Freedom and Unity Memorial Competition, Berlin
This proposal for the Freiheits- Einheitsdenkmal in Berlin was part of an international competition held by the Federal Ministry of Transportation, Construction and Urban Development.
Designed in collaboration with Bernhard Dietz
The elevated platform offers Berliners an opportunity to see across this part of their city at the same level as the former equestrian statue of Kaiser Wilhelm. The underside is illuminated and shelters a path to the archive.
View across the proposed Archive towards the Reichstag Building.
Embedded within the platform and situated where the former statue once stood is an archive documenting the events of November 1989.
